We have Men’s team in two leagues – the Hadrian League and the Newcastle & District (N&D) league.

The Hadrian League was originally formed mainly from clubs in the Tyne Valley, South Northumberland and North-West Durham.  The League continued to grow and has become recognised as a breeding ground for aspiring young golfers, many of whom went on to play senior representative golf at a national and international level.  David Curry from Prudhoe Club became British Amateur Golf Champion in 1986, represented Great Britain in the Walker Cup against the USA and played in both The Open and the US Masters.

The N&D League has been in existence since 1951. It currently consists of 16 clubs competing in teams of six players for the league trophy.  Other competitions include a Captains and Vice Captains match, an individual players championship, and awards for the Player of the year and most improved team.

This year we are looking to create an elite squad of around 20 players. Working with Director of Golf and PGA Professional Andy Scrimshaw, the plan is to train our squad to a level that is higher than ever before by using tour proven coaching methods. We have had a number of familiar faces re-join the club to accompany our great group of existing members who are keen to represent Prudhoe Golf Club’s teams.

Matches are mid-week evenings, both leagues are played off scratch.  So if you are interested in challenging yourself and improving your game, contact the club office@prudhoegolfclub.co.uk
